How Your Fundraising Helps

Imagine waking up not knowing whether you will be able to cross the road, go to work, or look after the kids today. Every case of MS is unique, and the symptoms, severity, and progress of the disease are different for everyone. MS can affect the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves, and can cause problems with vision, balance, muscle control, and other basic body functions.

At MS Queensland, we provide support and care, offer information, fund research for a cure and raise awareness for multiple sclerosis and other neurological diseases in Queensland, to ensure no one has to face MS alone.

The funds you raise are vital in providing services to over 5,500 Queenslanders living with MS and other neurological conditions. These services include our NeuroAssist information line, specialist nursing services, wellness programs and financial support. Your funds also power research into better treatments, and with your support, our hope is that one day there will be a cure for MS.

WHY FUNDRAISING IS IMPORTANT

We ask each walker in the MS Moonlight Walk to fundraise a minimum of $250. This may sound challenging to some, but we have made it fun and easy to fundraise, with your very own online fundraising page that is equipped with all the tools you need to reach and even surpass your fundraising goal!

We ask our participants to fundraise as this event enables MS Queensland to provide support for the increasing number of people diagnosed with MS.  It’s with your support that together we can ensure no one has to face MS alone.

The associated costs of staging a large public event are covered by the payment of entry fees. This means we rely on fantastic individuals like you to get involved and help raise much-needed funds for over 5,500 Queenslanders living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and other neurological conditions.

MS is one of the most common diseases of the central nervous system. It may affect the brain, spinal cord and optic nerve and impacts more young people in Australia than any other chronic neurological disease. The term multiple sclerosis means ‘many scars’ and depending on where those scars (lesions) develop, they result in various symptoms.

All money raised by our participants in the MS Moonlight Walk goes towards changing the lives of people with MS.

The funds you raise enables MS Queensland to provide services, including our NeuroAssist information line, specialist nursing services, wellness programs and financial support. Your funds also power research into better treatments, and with your support, our hope is that one day there will be a cure for MS.
