We are raising funds to shine a light on Queenslanders living with MS and neurological conditions.

We are taking part in the 2024 MS Moonlight Walk to shine a light on the 1 million Queenslanders livign with a neurological condition like multiple sclerosis (MS).

With glowing lanterns held high, we will walk with purpose, striving towards a united goal of ensuring every Queenslander with MS can connect to a better life.

Did you know:

  • More than 5,500 people in Queenslanders living with MS.

  • The average age of diagnosis is just 30 years of age.

  • Three out of four Australians with MS are women.

Your support will help fund essential services for Queenslanders. These services include the NeuroAssist Helpline, specialist nursing services, more Neuro Wellness Hubs and support to access vital funds through the NDIS. Your support will also power research into better treatments, and with your support, our hope is that one day there will be a cure for MS.

Please DONATE to support our walk and together, we will illuminate the path to a brighter future, where no one faces their journey alone.

Team Updates

Team Update - It's Getting Close!

Hey Team!

Not long now until our walk! It is getting very exciting, and I can’t wait to enjoy a leisurely walk through Roma Street Parklands with you.

I just thought I would mention that my family usually tries to wear something in the theme of the Moonlight Walk. We usually wear red tops as red is the MS colour (and my favourite), however, this year I somehow managed to purchase t-shirts from MS Queensland for the walk. They arrived a couple of days ago and they’re really nice! They’re navy with white writing and good quality!. I found the women’s size not quite accurate (rather small fit) but I am arranging a refund as I have raised over $1,000 so I get given some kind of fundraising shirt that is red so I will be wearing that one instead. We will all be wearing denim shorts with them.

This is the link to the merchandise page if you’d like to have a look:

Moonlight Walk : Merchandise

I’m not messaging you to tell you to buy a shirt or anything, I just thought I would mention the colour and shorts we are wearing in case you wanted to blend in. I would say navy or red top and denim bottom (if possible) would be good but feel free to wear whatever you’d like! In the past when I haven’t shared what my family are wearing, and when we have turned up matching, people have said they would have too so I just thought I would share – but please do/wear whatever you’d like to!

For those that haven’t done it before, you will see some fantastic costumes and team uniforms – I don’t go quite that far but I am certainly open to suggestions.

When the walk was at Southbank we used to go somewhere local to eat together afterwards. Being at Roma Street I am not sure what we will do this year. The event information says there will be food trucks (and there have been in the past but in limited numbers) so we might need to play it by ear to see what we do –  I am open to suggestions there too.

I was thinking of creating a group in messenger to make communication a bit easier. I will add those that I can to the group and get Lou to add the rest. That way we can chat more freely and also contact each other on the day etc. My phone number is 0407 452 297 if anyone doesn’t have it!

The walk starts at 6pm but there will be live music and food trucks and entertainment from 4.15pm. I think if we all should aim to meet around 5.30 – that should be fine. Unfortunately being a new venue this year, I can’t really suggest a meeting spot other than The Celebration Lawn – which is where MS Queensland says to meet. We could possibly meet outside the MS Queensland tent (they always have one where people pick up their lanterns etc.)

Finally, anyone is welcome to join our team – the more the merrier! So if you have any friends or family who would like to join – just add them in! We have almost raised $2,500 which is awesome! As the donations kept coming in I had to keep updating our target, but I am in no way pressuring anyone to donate or raise funds – what we have so far is amazing and we should all be very proud!

See y’all soon!

Thank You So Much

Lou and I would love to thank everyone who has recently donated to our fundraising efforts.

My work LMI Group made an amazing donation of $500 as well as the founders Allan and Helen Manning  and their daughter Susan. The Manning family including CEO son Steve have been so supportive of me in my battle allowing me to work when I am able and never pressuring me to work. I have always appreciated their amazing support.

Speaking of amazing support, I put a message in our neighbourhood WhatsApp chat and immediately our team was flooded with donations from various neighbours. We are so lucky to live in such an awesome neighbourhood 😍

I’ve started preparing for the walk so I should be raring to go on the night. Lou is amazing and goes to the gym and walks up to 11km around the neighbourhood. She’s an inspiration to me and has graciously chosen to walk the 3km with me which is most likely the farthest I can go.

We will just keep walking … just keep walking … ❤️

New Team Name

Hi everyone. As y'all know I was diagnosed with MS 11 years ago, well just before Christmas my gorgeous friend and next-door-neighbour Lou Vorbach was also diagnosed with MS (weird hey). Having someone so close by that knows exactly how things feel has been awesome and the way Lou has tackled this disease head-on with such strength has been inspiring! Lou and her awesome family and friends have joined our team, so I only thought it appropriate that we have a change in Team Name to include her as well. Walking with Wendy are now known as The Wacky WenLous (also very appropriate if you know the 2 of us 🤣🤣). I thought I would share the page in case you wanted to join us or maybe throw a couple of dollars our way. You can donate to the team as a whole or an individual team member. In the words of the famous Lou - lets kick some MS butt! ❤
