Important - Product Safety Recall
MS Moonlight Walk cap with light-up peak
The Office of Fair Trading has advised MS Queensland that the light-up hats MS Queensland purchased from a supplier and distributed as a fundraising incentive for the MS Moonlight Walk do not comply with mandatory standards for products containing button/coin batteries. These hats contain unsecured button batteries, which pose a serious safety risk, particularly to young children. If ingested or inserted into the body, button batteries can cause severe internal injuries, including choking hazards, internal burns, or even life-threatening complications.
To prioritise the safety of our participants, in consultation with the supplier and ACCC, we are recalling these hats.
Participants who received a light-up hat should immediately stop using it and keep it out of reach of children. Please then destroy/dispose of the hat by placing it in an outside household rubbish bin. For further information, contact MS Queensland by emailing events@msqld.org.au
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we take this proactive step to ensure the wellbeing of our community.
For further safety information on button batteries, please refer to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) guidelines at Product Safety Australia. If you have any concerns or require further information, please feel free to contact us at events@msqld.org.au or on 1300 090 923.
